Gupta: 'I am doubling down' on medical marijuana

(CNN) -- It's been eight months since I last wrote about medical marijuana, apologizing for having not dug deeply into the beneficial effects of this plant and for writing articles dismissing its potential. I apologized for my own role in previously misleading people, and I feel very badly that people have suffered for too long, unable to obtain the legitimate medicine that may have helped them.I have been reminded that a true and productive scientific journey involves a willingness to let go of established notions and get at the truth, even if it is uncomfortable and even it means having to say "sorry."

Today's Rant: Short and sweet. Enough is enough The time has come to end the prohibition on marijuana. Whether for medicinal or recreational use, this nation is not only ruining the lives of otherwise law-abiding citizens, it is wasting BILLIONS of dollars to do so. This, when we could instead realize a huge source of much needed jobs and tax revenue. It's time for our elected leadership to say "Uncle".

DeleteI truly think that is time to cut the crap and let marijuana be legal and free for use in all states...There are so many things that it is good for in the human health. Marijuana is highly effective with curbing nausea caused by chemotherapy, it is extremely helpful for people who are battling anorexia, very helpful for people who have chronic pain from fibromalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and other chronic pain and many many other medical ailments and diseases...There are scores and scores of uses where it is beneficial. It is non addictive, unlike alcohol which addictive and causes a lot of deaths, either through accidents, cirrhosis, violence or just plain ruins lives, yet alcohol is legal...Does not make sense to me...Like many other things that would be beneficial to society it is held back due to money and money concerns for those who have profit to lose by it being legal....That is so sad and so pathetic. Time for people to stop feeding the large corporations who have no concern for mankind, and whose only concerns are making money....The medical and pharmaceutical industries certainly do not want healthy people, that is for sure. It has been studied and the conclusion in many circles is that cannabis oil can cure many forms of cancer...now that is something that the medical industry and the pharmaceutical industry certainly does not want common knowledge...The only care about money...just saying......
